England's rail network is generally good. If planning to travel at weekends it is usually best to check beforehand as engineering work can result in line closures. Where this occurs replacement bus services are provided, however journeys will be delayed.

Public transport is a particularly convenient way of travelling around London as parking is often limited and expensive and cars entering central London's congestion zone are subject to a charge (currently £5, increasing to £8 from July 4 2005)
