Car Rental in England

England has a good road network and a rental car can provide a convenient means of getting around for visitors. Visitors from Europe and North America should remember that in England (and the rest of the British Isles) vehicles drive on the LEFT.

It is advisable to take a look at the Highway Code, which covers England's rules of the road.

Traffic information

Like most (all?) other countries England is sometimes subject to traffic jams. It's a good idea to keep your car radio tuned to a local radio station that offers regular trafiic updates.

If your car has an RDS (Radio Data System) enabled radio you may use the 'Traffic' function (often marked 'TA', 'TI', 'TP' or 'Traffic') to be retuned to traffic and travel updates from your BBC Local Radio station, even if tuned to another station or listening to a CD or cassette.
