Robbie WilliamsRobbie Williams, one of England's most successful pop singers, was born on February 13, 1974 in Stoke-on-Trent. Williams shot to fame in the early '90's as a member of the boy band Take That. He left the band in 1995 to pursue a solo career. In the summer of '96 Williams reached number 2 in the UK charts with his debut single, a cover of George Michael's Freedom. Freedom was followed by Old Before I Die, which also reached number 2. Williams' next two singles Lazy Days and South of the Border didn't do so well, reaching 8 and 14 respectively. His debut album Life Thru a Lens also failed to find immediate success. However the Christmas '97 hit Angels established Williams as a major solo talent. In 2002 Williams signed a lucrative contract with EMI, following which he famously squealed, "I'm rich beyond my wildest dreams". Williams' other albums are:
